About Picture Pen
Picture Pen aims to create images that connect with people. From fine art pieces to portraits, every photograph should have purpose and meaning.
My work is heavily inspired by the narrative styles of classic nior photography and film, embracing bright highlights and heavy shadows to frame subjects of various themes. A childhood full of old movies that were more monochrome than color gifted me a love affair with black and white film that has been carefully carried over into even my digital practices.
Previously known as PhoneixTail Studios, the studio was re-branded over the Winter of 2015 to become Picture Pen Photography; a name that better fit my desire to share stories through my work.
Currently, I attend three to seven art venues in Portland and its outlying areas each year and specialize in black and white photographic art with an emphasis on wildlife and portraiture.
